I have a patient who suffered trauma as a teen. The teeth have been root canaled and a temp bridge was placed. Since then, it is all failing and needs further restoration. We are placing implants and then constructing an implant supported bridge. My question is, we did not do all the original work- he is a relatively new patient to our office. I am wanting to submit a prior auth to see if they may cover the work, but I'm not sure if I should use first occurrence since he didn't have the previous work done here or if this is where the sequela is used. Any ideas?

Hi Guest!
Since this is a case stemming from a childhood (teen) trauma, you may want to consider sequela.

Hope this helps!
