I need help to convert anesthesia and impacted wisdom teeth dental codes to medical codes to bill to the medical insurance. This particular medical insurance will not accept dental procedure codes.
Dental Codes are:
D9222
D9223
D7240

My Dr. is an oral surgeon who also has a medical degree, and a license to administer general/deep sedation this would be done in an office setting.

THANKS SO MUCH & APPRECIATE ANY ADVISE!!!

Hi Guest!

D9222 – deep sedation/general anesthesia – first 15 minutes
D9223 – deep sedation/general anesthesia – each additional 15 minutes
can be crosscoded to:
00170 - Anesthesia for intraoral procedures, including biopsy; not otherwise specified

D7240 - removal of impacted tooth - completely bony

The code listed above do not have direct crosscodes we are aware of, and since the insurer will not process "D" codes, you will want to use the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

Hope this helps!
