Dr. Sterling: I would suggest that you use the D7230 on the medical claim form. The 41899 is an unspecified code and we have found that many insurance companies are now accepting the "D" code for both the complete and partial bony impactions.

We submitted a claim for dental code D7230 to Harvard Pilgrim using 41899 as the CPT code. Cross Coding does not give a CPT for this dental code. We have used 41899 in the past, however the claim came back stating there is a specific CPT/HCPCS code which corresponds to the service described. Can you help with this coding?
