"Successful Implementation of Dental Sleep Medicine" CE Seminars Expands in 2013

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Nierman Practice Management has released a new video highlighting their seminar series "Successful Implementation of Dental Sleep Medicine."

The highly acclaimed 2-day course educates dentists and team members on how to treat sleep apnea patients with oral appliance therapy. If a patient has been diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and has failed or rejected CPAP treatment, they can turn to their dentist for care. Dentists can treat them with a  mandibular advancement device, a small appliance the patient wears at night, to open the airway and clear obstruction.

While the dentists are learning the clinical side of dental sleep medicine with renowned DSM dentist John Tucker DMD, ABDSM, their staff are trained on medical billing protocols for sleep apnea. Since sleep apnea is a dangerous medical condition, oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea can be reimbursed by medical insurance. Rose Nierman and her team of dental-medical billing and cross coding experts conduct multiple break-out sessions throughout the day. The dental team learns how to cross code, fill out the medical claim form, and acquire the necessary documentation needed for medical reimbursement. Dental-medical billing is a critical factor in the success of a dental sleep medicine practice, and this course emphasizes its importance.

The 2-day sleep apnea seminar is accredited with the AGD PACE program as well as the ADA CERP, and offers 14 continuing education (CE) credits for attendees.

The course is part of Henry Schein's Sleep Complete program, a turnkey solution for dentists looking to implement dental sleep medicine into their practice, and sponsored by Itamar-Medical, carrier of the WatchPat home sleep study unit. Attendees of the course even have the opportunity to test out the overnight sleep study on themselves and analyze the results as part of a group session.

Based on increased demand, courses are expanding next year all across the U.S. Nierman Practice management has planned over 20 seminars in 2013.You can see the full seminar schedule at www.dentalwriter.com/events
