Hi Kay!

The HCPCS code for a custom made appliance for OSA is E0486.

Hope this helps!

Is the best diagnosis code for E0486 327.23?
Do you have a list of diagnosis codes for E0486?

Thank You!

Hi Guest!

327.33 is the ICD-9 diagnosis code for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (adult)(pediatric)

The diagnosis coding switched over to ICD-10 October of 2015.

For most medical insurers, G47.33 is the only diagnosis code that qualifies for coverage of E0486.

However, if the patient is not diagnosed through a sleep study, you may end up using other diagnosis codes such as:

R06.83 - Snoring
G47.10 - Hypersomnia, unspecified
G47.31 - Primary central sleep apnea

etc, etc.

Hope this helps!

Hi Guest!

Hmmm, no I'm sorry I don't! I have never seen a dental insurer cover an appliance to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea before, only medical (and i've been doing this over a decade!)
