Hi Guest!

D7251 - Coronectomy – intentional partial tooth removal
D7230 - Removal of impacted tooth - partially bony

There is actually not a direct crosscode for coronectomy or extractions we are aware of, so typically you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or use the CPT code 41899 (Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures) with a narrative description.

I am not sure why they would not accept it either! It is definitely an active and billable code, although of course since it is unspecified always required a narrative report/description.

We are trying to set up a hospital case for D7251 and D7230. We normally use 41899 cpt. However, the hospital said they no longer accept this code. I'm a tad confused as to why not but nonetheless is there a different code that code be used?
